Internet Payment

DIBS email is an alternative to traditional payment methods on a website. Instead of forwarding a customer to a website that requires their card information, the order is sent to DIBS email, which then sends an invoice to the customer based on the received information (read more about how to set DIBS email up to do this in DIBS email XML-API).

There are multiple advantages to using this method:

  • You do not have to design the dialogue related to typing in card information.
  • You never have to handle sensitive data on your website.
  • You are exempt from time critical elements related to payment. If an acquirers systems out of order, the customer has the option to try again later – since the invoice has already been sent.

Process/flow

Using DIBS email for online payment involves the following process:

  1. The customer enters an online shop and places an order.
  2. The shop displays a “thank you” message and explains that an invoice including payment instructions will be sent by e-mail.
  3. The internet shop send the order to DIBS email via DIBS email API.
  4. DIBS email sends the invoice to the customer.
  5. The customer clicks on the link in the invoice and is taken to a website where payment is possible.
  6. Upon completion the online shop receives notice.
  7. … and a receipt is sent to the customer.
