DIBS secures easy payments for m-commerce via apps
Published: 23. April 2012DIBS, the leading provider of payment solutions for e-commerce in the Nordic region, today launches a development kit that enables retailers to easily and securely receive payments for m-commerce in Android and iPhone apps. The user-friendly payment window opens up new possibilities for mobile commerce of goods and services inside apps.
DIBS today unveiled a new development kit for In-App payments. It enables retailers to integrate a secure and user-friendly payment windows in their iOS and Android apps. Thus they can charge consumers with credit cards in a fully PCI certified environment inside apps. The development kit is a so-called programming library that can be downloaded from the DIBS website. It consists of a set of structures and predefined code for the integration of payment solutions in the store's app.
Stores can decide which payment method they choose to provide, for example all major national and international cards or payment via Internet banks. They can also choose from a selection of graphical interfaces for the payment window. To make it easier for consumers, the stores can decide to offer a solution for recurring payments. Thereby, consumers only need to enter their credit card information once and can thereafter make new purchases with just a few clicks.
“DIBS is a driving force in the development of commerce via mobile phones and offers several services for secure mobile payments,” says Eric Wallin, CEO of DIBS. “With the development kit for In-App Payment, we go one step further and make it easy for our customers to launch and offer mobile commerce inside apps.”
“There are no other development kits in the world that are designed for developers of apps, where consumers can pay for goods and services in a PCI-certified secure environment. We have developed our InApp payment solution to help our 14 000 e-retailers to find new ways to reach their customers through apps in smartphones,” says Jacob Raavig, COO at DIBS.
From the consumers perspective the whole payment process is completed inside the store's app. There is no screen swap, in the sense that the consumer is not sent to any other app or site for the payment. Technically, however, the entire payment process is made in DIBS system, which is PCI-compliant. DIBS manages users' credit card information with the same security as for DIBS other payment options. This means that the store can offer PCI-compliant payments, without themselves undergoing a PCI-certification.
The interest in mobile commerce is very large and a growing number of e-stores offer products and services through smart phones. DIBS provides a variety of services with payment windows that fit smartphones and are simple and intuitive to use.
The Danish railway company DSB is among the first to offer DIBS InApp payments through their app MobilBilletter Hovedstaden. Thousands of commuters in Copenhagen area use that app to buy bus and train tickets every week.
DIBS InApp payment window is launched with a selection of graphical interfaces. In the near future, stores will get enhanced possibilities to make the payment window match their own design.
